Utility Assistance

Each year hundreds of local residents are helped thanks to the Energy Outreach Colorado Program.

Funds are provided through a grant from Energy Outreach Colorado, an organization dedicated to “keeping Colorado homes warm, healthy and safe by raising money for energy assistance. We assist people in emergency situations by helping pay the balances on their utility bills. We also help limited income families to be more self-sufficient by funding energy efficiency measures that lower energy costs in affordable housing across Colorado.”

Caring Ministries assisted approximately 404 limited income families throughout Morgan County in 2008. Caring Ministries is looking to aid an additional 40 more families this year.

To qualify for the assistance, customers must fall within income guidelines and apply for LEAP Low-Income Energy Assistance Program. Caring Ministries can assist a client only one-time in a 12 month period.

To be eligible to receive utility assistance:

  • You must have photo ID
  • Your name must be on the utility bill and the bill must be overdue.
  • During the winter months, you must have applied for LEAP and bring the acceptance or denial letter.
  • You must have a good relationship with the utility company. If there are account irregularities this may disqualify you.
  • You must live in Morgan County.

Please note: Depending on how large the bill is, Caring Ministries may only be able to pay enough to keep your service on for 30 days.
